All dining plans for 2010-2011 automatically renew for the Spring 2011 semester for resident and commuter students unless changed in person at the UB Card office or online by January 14, 2011. If you have a meal plan for Spring, any unused Dining Dollars from the Fall semester will carry over. If you are not planning on having a meal plan for Spring, any Dining Dollars left over at the end of the Fall semester will be forfeited. Note: There are additional restrictions for Campus Cash if you do not have a meal plan and live in the Residence Halls. Check with the UB Card Office or refer to your Agreement.
Freshmen living on-campus are required to select a dining plan for both semesters of their first academic year. Freshmen are automatically assigned the Any 19 Plan, but may change to the Any 14 plan. To choose the other plan, stop by the UB Card Office in the Commons on North Campus or in Harriman Hall on South Campus.
In our Residence Hall Dining Centers, we prepare breakfast Monday through Friday, brunch on the weekend and dinner every night of the week. You'll combine these meals with lunches and snacks you'll get from any number of great places on campus, using your lunch swipes or the Dining Dollars portion of your dining plan. Dining Dollars are tax free, so you save 8.75% when you purchase a quick breakfast on the way to class, buy dinners on the nights you choose not to eat in a Residence Hall, or buy a meal for a friend.
Meals and Dining Dollars are stored on your UB Card so there isn’t any need to carry cash. Unused meals from your meal plan do not carry over from week to week, so be sure to eat most of your meals before the end of the week (weeks start on Saturdays and end on Fridays). You can use two meals per meal period, but only one meal swipe per transaction.
Meal Exchanges
Our meal exchange program gives you the flexibility to use your meal swipes at select UB snack bars and restaurants. During the weekdays, you can get a $8.25 dinner exchange at Putnam’s or Pistachio's in the Student Union, a lunch exchange of $7 at any UB snack bar or restaurant, and a breakfast exchange of $4.50 at Harriman Cafe, Putnam’s, Bert’s or any other dining operation “On the Spine.” NY Deli & Diner also accepts meal exchanges for dinner on Tuesday and Thursday nights. On the weekends, you can use a brunch exchange of $7 and a dinner exchange of $8.25 at the Ellicott Food Court. The meal exchange program allows you to save your Dining Dollars and use your meal swipes instead. (Sorry, you can’t get credit for missed meals.)
